Proverbs of hell
In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.
Drive your cart and your plow over the bones of the dead.
The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.
Prudence is a rich ugly old maid courted by Incapacity.
He who desires but acts not, breeds pestilence.
The cut worm forgives the plow.
Dip him in the river who loves water.
A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees.
He whose face gives no light, shall never become a star.
Eternity is in love with the productions of time.
The busy bee has no time for sorrow.
The hours of folly are measur'd by the clock, but of wisdom: no clock can
measure.
All wholsom food is caught without a net or a trap.
Bring out number weight & measure in a year of dearth.
No bird soars too high. if he soars with his own wings.
A dead body. revenges not injuries.
The most sublime act is to set another before you.
If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise
Folly is the cloke of knavery.
Shame is Prides cloke.
Prisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion.
The pride of the peacock is the glory of God.
The lust of the goat is the bounty of God.
The wrath of the lion is the wisdom of God.
The nakedness of woman is the work of God.
Excess of sorrow laughs. Excess of joy weeps.
The roaring of lions, the howling of wolves, the raging of the
stormy sea, and the destructive sword. are portions of
eternity too great for the eye of man.
The fox condemns the trap, not himself.
Joys impregnate. Sorrows bring forth.
Let man wear the fell of the lion. woman the fleece of the sheep.
The bird a nest, the spider a web, man friendship.
The selfish smiling fool. & the sullen frowning fool. shall be
both thought wise. that they may be a rod.
What is now proved was once, only imagin'd.
The rat, the mouse, the fox, the rabbet; watch the roots, the lion, the tyger,
the horse, the elephant, watch the fruits.
The cistern contains: the fountain overflows
One thought. fills immensity.
Always be ready to speak your mind, and a base man will avoid you.
Every thing possible to be believ'd is an image of truth.
The eagle never lost so much time, as when he submitted to learn of the crow.
The fox provides for himself. but God provides for the lion.
Think in the morning, Act in the noon, Eat in the evening, Sleep in the night.
He who has sufferd you to impose on him knows you.
As the plow follows words, so God rewards prayers.
The tygers of wrath are wiser than the horses of instruction
Expect poison from the standing water.
You never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough.
Listen to the fools reproach! it is a kingly title!
The eyes of fire, the nostrils of air, the mouth of water, the beard of earth.

As the catterpiller chooses the fairest leaves to lay her eggs on, so the priest
lays his curse on the fairest joys.

Prayers plow not! Praises reap not!
Joys laugh not! Sorrows weep not!
The head Sublime, the heart Pathos, the genitals Beauty, the hands & feet
Proportion.
As the air to a bird or the sea to a fish, so is contempt to the contemptible.
The crow wish'd every thing was black, the owl, that every thing was white.
Exuberance is Beauty.
If the lion was advised by the fox. he would be cunning.
Improvement makes strait roads, but the crooked roads without
Improvement, are roads of Genius.
Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires
Where man is not nature is barren.
Truth can never be told so as to be understood, and not be believ'd.
Enough! or Too much.
The ancient Poets animated all sensible objects with Gods or
Geniuses calling them by the names and adorning them with the
properties of woods, rivers, mountains, lakes, cities, nations,
and whatever their enlarged & numerous senses could percieve.
And particularly they studied the genius of each city &
country. placing it under its mental deity.
Till a system was formed, which some took advantage of &
enslav'd the vulgar by attempting to realize or abstract the
mental deities from their objects: thus began Priesthood.
Choosing forms of worship from poetic tales.
And at length they pronounced that the Gods had orderd such
things.
Thus men forgot that All deities reside in the human breast.
Proverbios del infierno
En los tiempos de siembra aprende, en los de cosecha enseña, y en invierno disfruta.
Dirige tu carro y arado sobre los huesos de los muertos.
El camino del exceso lleva al palacio de la sabiduría.
La Prudencia es una rica y fea soltera cortejada por la Incapacidad.
Aquél que desea y no actúa, engendra pestilencia.
El gusano cortado perdona al arado.
Sumerge en el río a aquél que ama el agua.
El tonto no ve el mismo árbol que ve el hombre sabio.
Aquél cuyo rostro no irradia luz, nunca se convertirá en estrella.
La Eternidad está enamorada de las creaciones del Tiempo.
La abeja ocupada no tiene tiempo para la pena.
Las horas de la locura son medidas por el reloj, pero las de la sabiduría: ningún reloj las
puede
medir.
Todo el alimento que es saludable no es atrapado ni con red ni trampa.
Expón número peso y medida en un año de muerte.
Ningún pájaro vuela demasiado alto. si vuela con sus propias alas.
Un cuerpo muerto. no venga ninguna herida.
El acto más sublime es poner a otro antes que a tí.
Si el tonto persiste en su necedad se convertirá en sabio.
La necedad es el atuendo de la bellaquería.
La vergüenza el atuendo del orgullo.
Se construyen prisiones con las piedras de la Ley, los Burdeles con los ladrillos de la Religión.
El orgullo del pavo real es la gloria de Dios.
La lujuria del carnero es la liberalidad de Dios.
La ira del león es la sabiduría de Dios.
La desnudez de la mujer es la obra de Dios.
El exceso de pena ríe. El exceso de dicha llora.
El rugido de los leones, el aullido de los lobos, el furioso oleaje
del mar tempestuoso, y la espada destructiva. son porciones
de eternidad demasiado grandiosas para el ojo del hombre.
El zorro condena la trampa, no a sí mismo.
La dicha impregna. Las penas procrean.
Deja que el hombre vista la melena del león. que la mujer vista el vellón de la oveja.
El pájaro un nido, la araña una telaraña, el hombre la amistad.
Al egoísta y sonriente necio. y al necio malhumorado y ceñudo. a ambos
se les enseñará la sabiduría. ya que ambos pueden ser una varilla.
Lo que hoy está probado fue antes, sólo imaginado.
La rata, el ratón, el zorro, el conejo; vigilan las raíces, el león, el tigre,
el caballo, el elefante, vigilan las frutas.
La cisterna contiene: la fuente se rebalsa
Un pensamiento. llena la inmensidad.
Estate siempre dispuesto a decir lo que piensas, y un hombre ruin te evitará.
Todo aquello que pueda creerse es una imagen de la verdad.
El águila nunca perdió más tiempo, que cuando se sometió a aprender del cuervo.
El zorro provee para sí mismo. pero Dios provee para el león.
Piensa en la mañana, Actúa en la tarde, Come al anochecer, Duerme en la noche.
Aquél que ha sufrido tu impetu sobre sí mismo te conoce.
Así como el arado sigue a las palabras, así mismo es como Dios recompensa las plegarias.
Los tigres de la ira son más sabios que los caballos de la instrucción
Espera veneno de las aguas estancadas.
Tú nunca sabes qué es bastante a menos que sepas qué es más que bastante.
¡Escucha a los tontos reprochar! ¡es un título real!
Los ojos de fuego, las narices del aire, la boca del agua, la barba de la tierra.
El débil en coraje es fuerte en astucia.
El manzano nunca le pregunta al haya cómo debe de crecer, ni el león. al caballo;
cómo debe tomar a su presa.
El que recibe agradecidamente dá cosechas cuantiosas.
Si otros no hubiesen sido tontos. lo seríamos nosotros.
El alma de dulce deleite. nunca puede ser vaciada,
Cuando tú ves un águila, ves una porción de Genio. ¡Levantad vuestra cabeza!
Así como la oruga elige las mejores hojas para dejar sus huevos, así mismo el sacerdote
deja su maldición para las mejores dichas.
Crear una pequeña flor es la tarea de los tiempos.
La Maldición. estimula: la Bendición relaja.
El mejor vino es el más viejo. la mejor agua es la más nueva.
¡Las plegarias no aran! ¡Los elogios no cosechan!
¡Las dichas no ríen! ¡Las penas no lloran!
La cabeza Sublime, el corazón Patético, los genitales Belleza, las manos y pies
Proporción.
Como el aire es a un ave o el mar a un pez, así es el desprecio al despreciable.
El cuervo quisiera que todo fuese negro, el búho, que todo fuese blanco.
La exuberancia es belleza.
Si el león fuese aconsejado por el zorro. sería astuto.
El perfeccionamiento traza caminos rectos, pero los caminos torcidos sin
perfeccionar, son los caminos del Genio.
Mejor asesinar pronto a un infante en su cuna que alimentar deseos que no se llevan a la
práctica
Donde no está el hombre la naturaleza es estéril.
La verdad nunca puede contarse de modo que sea entendida, y no sea creída.
¡Suficiente! o Demasiado.
Los Poetas antiguos animaban a todos los objetos sensibles con Dioses o
Genios llamándolos por sus nombres y adornándolos con las
propiedades de las maderas, los ríos, las montañas, los lagos, las ciudades, las naciones,
y cualquier cosa que sus dilatados y numerosos sentidos pudiesen percibir.
Y en particular estudiaban el genio de cada ciudad y
país. colocándolos bajo su divinidad mental.
Hasta que se formaba un sistema, del cual algunos tomaron ventaja y
esclavizaron a los vulgares pretendiendo realizar o abstraer las
divinidades mentales a partir de sus objetos: así comenzó el Sacerdocio.
Eligiendo formas de adoración a partir de relatos poéticos.
Y desde las distancias pronunciaron que los Dioses habían ordenado tales
cosas.
Así los hombres olvidaron que todas las divinidades residen en el pecho humano.
